After a long search for the best decaffeinated coffee, we can confidently say that we have finally found it! This divine decaffeinated coffee is in no way inferior to a high-quality caffeinated coffee you can find! Thanks to the decaffeination method used, this Colombia has a unique cinnamon-sweet aftertaste. The coffee is grown by a cooperative in the Huila region of Colombia. After being hand-picked by the farmers, it is transported to a nearby farm for processing. This farm has more than 30 years of experience in decaffeinating coffee using the so-called “Sugarcane” method. This coffee decaffeination process is natural and does not use any chemical solvents. “AE” – ethyl acetate extracted from sugar cane, which is also present in fruits and vegetables – is used to extract the caffeine. First, the beans are heated in a steam bath to open their pores and soften, then the coffee passes through a bath of ethyl acetate, obtained from the fermentation of sugarcane. Finally, the beans are steamed a final time at a temperature higher than the boiling point of EA. This ensures that any residual ethyl acetate evaporates along with any caffeine that may have remained after processing and thus the coffee is 99% decaffeinated.
